The Raptors, Pacers and Cavaliers are all said to be pursuing veteran guard Anthony Parker.
Not to be confused with the Spurs Tony Parker, this Parker is thought by many to be the best player not currently in the NBA and has won two EuroLeague MVP awards while playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Raptors are said to be leading the race to acquire him.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #1
Daniel Gibson left Monday’s game in the second half due to a sprained ankle, finishing with four points on 1-of-5 shooting, two rebounds, and one assist in 17 minutes.
We’re calling him day-to-day until we get a more clear report. Anthony Parker could get some extra run if Gibson misses any time, as could undrafted newcomer Donald Sloan. Neither will be worth fantasy consideration in most formats.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #1
Daniel Gibson (ankle) is day-to-day after x-rays taken after Monday’s game were negative.
Gibson’s status should be considered questionable going forward. If he is forced to miss any time, Anthony Parker should see a slight increase in minutes but won’t be worth consideration in the majority of fantasy formats.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #1
Daniel Gibson (foot) got a second opinion and will “likely” need surgery.
This should make it official that Gibson won’t be returning this season. Anthony Parker, Alonzo Gee, Omri Casspi and Manny Harris should all see a slight bump in minutes to make up for the 26 minutes that Gibson had been playing.
  • Point Guard #14
Cavs backup PG Lester Hudson scored a career-high 23 points on 6-of-14 shooting (0-for-4 from deep, 11-of-13 from the line) with two rebounds, seven assists, and three steals in the Cavs’ win over the Raptors on Friday.
This was almost a D-League game with all the absences and general lack of talent on both sides of the court, but Hudson should be owned in all formats for the possibility he has nights like this. Donald Sloan scored five points on 2-of-8 shooting with seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 34 minutes, and it’s possible both guys get heavy run going forward. Anthony Parker’s return could muddy the waters, but we’re about to hit the wacky portion of the program and he’s a bit of a question mark, too. As for Sloan and Parker, they should be owned in most formats due to the Cavs’ awesome playoff schedule (AP’s health notwithstanding)
  • Shooting Guard #6
Manny Harris started for injured Anthony Parker (sternum) in Friday’s win over the Raptors, scoring four points on 1-of-8 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, three assists, and one block in 32 minutes.
Harris didn’t make the impression he would have liked to have made, but according to the most recent reports he’ll get another shot on Sunday against the Nets. If he can make some headway, he’ll be a guy to watch if the Cavs throw caution to the wind and run all young guys out onto the court.
  • CLE Shooting Guard
Anthony Parker (bruised sternum) has been ruled out for the next two games.
This puts him out for Friday’s game against the Raptors and Sunday’s game against the Nets. Manny Harris will draw the start in place of Parker, and should see a fair share of minutes considering how banged-up the Cavaliers currently are heading into Friday’s contest.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #1
Daniel Gibson scored eight points off the bench on Friday, hitting 3-of-7 shots from the field (including two threes) with seven assists and two blocks in 30 minutes.
Gibson had the extra assists because he played backup point guard with Kyrie Irving (illness) out, but the reason to watch him is Byron Scott’s dissatisfaction with the current lineup and rotation. Anthony Parker will probably hold his starting job, but if he doesn’t then Gibson is the favorite to step in.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #1
Daniel Gibson (ankle) “probably won’t play” on Wednesday against the Hawks or Friday against the Magic.
Gibson has been in a pretty bad shooting slump of late, shooting just 34.9 percent in March, and now his bum ankle will likely keep him out of action over the next two games. Anthony Parker will see his minutes increased with Gibson sidelined, but he just doesn’t have enough upside to be worthy of fantasy consideration in standard-sized leagues.
  • Point Guard #6
Donald Sloan scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting (no threes) with four rebounds and five assists in the Cavs’ blowout loss to the Pacers on Friday.
Sloan logged 31 minutes to Lester Hudson’s 19 minutes, but this is the first game in a while in which Sloan has been the better play. Anthony Parker played just 18 minutes due to the blowout, scoring seven points on 3-of-6 shooting with five rebounds, one assist, and a three, and Antawn Jamison logged 24 minutes with 12 points, four boards, and a triple of his own.
