    Bryce Dejean-Jones has died.
He suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen late Friday and bled to death. Dejean-Jones was 23 and got his big break into the league last year as one of the most exciting esoteric players in the league. Our thoughts are with his family.

According to the Dallas police, Bryce Dejean-Jones was killed early Saturday after he “kicked open the front door” to an apartment and the man sleeping inside woke up and shot him.
According to this report: “The commotion startled the man sleeping inside, who police say grabbed his handgun and ‘called out’ but got no answer. Police say Dejean-Jones then kicked the door to the bedroom — and the man fired. Dejean-Jones ran out of the apartment and ‘collapsed in the breezeway,’ police say. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.”

Bryce Dejean-Jones’ contract with the Pelicans has no guaranteed money.
In other words, it is simply a training camp invite. It would be a surprise to see him make the team, but Dejean-Jones could spend time in the D-League if New Orleans wants to invest in his potential.

Dejean-Jones averaged 12.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.2 assists during his six Summer League appearances with New Orleans, but he’s a long shot to wind up on the regular-season roster.

The Pelicans signed Bryce Dejean-Jones to a partially-guaranteed, three-year deal.
The 6'6" swingman played his college ball at UNLV and Iowa State, averaging 10.5 points with the Cyclones last season. Dejean-Jones was efficient at the D-League last year, making 62 percent from the field. The Pelicans have some major depth issues on the wing, but BDJ won’t be getting minutes.

    Pelicans waive G Bryce Dejean-Jones.
He never had a chance to make the final roster, but he got a chance after a decent showing at summer league.
  • Small Forward #4
The Pelicans will waive Jeff Adrien, Bo McCalleb and Bryce DeJean-Jones.
None of these players were expected to make the final roster, but there is a good chance that Adrien will get another shot in the NBA.

Pelicans sign G Bryce Dejean-Jones to a second 10-day contract.
New Orleans will have to decide whether to keep him for the season or let him go at the conclusion of this 10-day contract, but he’s played well since earning his audition and it wouldn’t surprise us to see him stick on a team that has been decimated by injuries.
