    Wizards sign C Daniel Ochefu.
There’s almost no chance he’ll make the roster. The Villanova product has a partial guarantee for the upcoming season. Ochefu has a ton to prove at Summer League.
  • Center #91
Daniel Ochefu is expected to play extended minutes on Saturday vs. Sacramento.
With Ian Mahinmi (knee surgery) out for at least the next four-to-six weeks, Ochefu is going to get an opportunity to prove he belongs on the roster.

Scott Brooks recently praised what Daniel Ochefu can do on the court.
“He has a skill-set that really makes him to be able to compete at this level. He plays hard and he’s a really good passer,” Brooks said. “Coach Jay [Wright] and Villanova did a great job of teaching him how to roll to the basket. He has great hands and to be able to kick out and making the right plays.”

Daniel Ochefu (illness) has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Pacers.
He’s a negligible part of the rotation in Washington, so his absence will have zero consequence in fantasy hoops.
  • NBA Center #28
With Ian Mahinmi (knees) expected to miss at least six weeks, Wizards coach Scott Brooks said he will “definitely” consider more small-ball lineups.
Mahinmi had PRP treatment on both knees earlier on Wednesday. Jason Smith and Daniel Ochefu are the primary backup centers when the Wizards need to stay bigger, but guys like Markieff Morris and Andrew Nicholson could also get a slight boost when the team goes small. There are no big winners here.
  • NBA Center #28
Ian Mahinmi is scheduled to undergo PRP treatment on both of his knees, and he will miss at least the next six weeks of action.
It’s been a struggle for Mahinmi this season, with him only suiting up for one game thus far, and it’s certainly possible he’s out longer than this initial six-week timetable. Jason Smith and Daniel Ochefu have been splitting the backup center minutes this season, while Gortat has been forced into playing a career-high 35.8 minutes a night. Smith and Ochefu are negligible fantasy assets in all leagues.

Daniel Ochefu (illness) did not practice on Thursday.
Ochefu is not in the rotation when the Wizards are healthy at the forward spots.
  • Center #91
Daniel Ochefu (illness) did not practice on Monday.
Ochefu is a non-factor in the Wizards’ rotation and can safely remain on the waiver wire in all leagues.

The Wizards have waived C Daniel Ochefu.
Ochefu wasn’t a rotation player in Washington last season, and that would have held true this year, particularly with Ian Mahinmi healthy. There aren’t any fantasy implications here.
