Kansas redshirt junior power forward Dedric Lawson announced Monday that he will forego his final season of eligibility and enter the 2019 NBA Draft.
Lawson (6'9/235), who playing the first two seasons of his college career at Memphis, was an AP All-American in his lone season at Kansas. The redshirt junior forward led the Big 12 in both scoring (19.4 ppg) and rebounding (10.3 rpg) this season while also accounting for 1.7 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.1 blocks and 1.0 three-pointers per game. Lawson didn’t do too much shooting from beyond the three-point line, attempting just 2.5 per game, but his percentages of 39.3% from three and 81.5% from the foul line show that he’s capable of being proficient in that area with more work. A 49.1% shooter from the field, the projected second-round pick was effective despite the fact that Kansas’ front court was depleted by injuries and NCAA issues for much of this season.
