Rookie Doron Lamb “doesn’t appear ready for major minutes,” according to Bucks beat writer Gery Woelfel.
Woelfel writes that not only does Lamb not appear ready, but he also lacks the size the Bucks are “looking for” on the wing. The Bucks have explored “the possibility” of trading for a wing player or signing a free agent, and it’s becoming more apparent that we shouldn’t be expecting big things out of Lamb during his rookie season despite his ability to shoot.
  • Shooting Guard #8
Kentucky SG Doron Lamb was taken by the Bucks with the No. 42 pick in Thursday’s draft.
Lamb is a terrific shooter and he could have been drafted considerably higher, making him a low-risk pick for Milwaukee. He knocked down a whopping 46.6 percent of his 3-pointers last season, and when he gets off the Bucks bench we expect him to have the green light.
  • Shooting Guard #8
Bucks sign rookie G Doron Lamb.
Lamb will join a crowded backcourt that includes Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings, so were not expecting big things out of the rookie.
  • Shooting Guard #8
A few scouts believe Kentucky sophomore SG Doron Lamb is the best shooter in the draft, according to ESPN’s Chad Ford.
The vast majority of scouts see Vanderbilt SG John Jenkins as the class’ best shooter, but it’s notable that Lamb is highly thought of as well. He averaged 13.7 points per game last season while shooting 47.4 percent from the field, 82.6 percent from the line and 46.6 percent from 3-point range. Lamb is currently projected as a late-first or early-second round pick.
  • Shooting Guard #8
Bucks rookie Doron Lamb will miss training camp due to a torn ligament in his left elbow.
For the moment, Lamb is avoiding surgery in the hopes that the injury “heals on its own.” There is no clear timetable for his return -- if he misses any regular season games, more minutes will open up for guys like Beno Udrih and Marquis Daniels.
  • Shooting Guard #8
Doron Lamb (elbow) practiced with the Bucks for the first time on Tuesday, and he reportedly “looked good.”
Lamb suffered ligament damage in late September and was expected to miss “at least a few weeks,” so it’s possible that he’s nearing a return. Unfortunately, the Bucks’ rotation is too clogged to recommend him in any fantasy formats.
  • DET Point Guard #19
Beno Udrih sprained his right ankle in the fourth quarter of Friday’s game against the Wolves and went to the locker room.
He was unable to shoot free throws that resulted from the the play involving the sprained ankle and it didn’t look good. Udrih will be re-evaluated tomorrow. Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings already play big minutes, so Doron Lamb and Mike Dunleavy may pick up some extra playing time. Stay tuned.
  • DET Point Guard #19
The X-rays on Beno Udrih’s ankle were negative and Udrih will have an MRI on Saturday.
Udrih was in some pain from the Friday injury and it is good news that he didn’t break his ankle. He’s not out of the woods yet and the MRI will help determine the severity of the sprain. Beno only plays 19 minutes per game, so it would be a bit of a reach to say backup Doron Lamb could pick up enough minutes to make him a speculative add. Mike Dunleavy may also pick up some minutes, too.
  • Shooting Guard #8
Doron Lamb had 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting in his preseason debut.
Lamb looked good in his first action since he tore a ligament in his elbow at the beginning of training camp, but he’s not going to come into fantasy value in standard formats right now with a crowded rotation. The rookie also needs to tighten up his defense and could struggle to defend bigger shooting guards.
  • MIL Shooting Guard #6
Marquis Daniels and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a guaranteed contract, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.
Daniels spent three years with Boston and saw his minutes per game drop to 12.7 last year. The Auburn product will add depth at the wing in Milwaukee, but he will struggle to find a role that will be consistent enough for fantasy purposes.
