The Magic are interested in bringing back Isaiah Briscoe (knee) this summer.
Orlando waived Briscoe after he suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee which required season-ending surgery. He did show decent promise as their backup PG before the injury, so Orlando’s interest is not surprising. Michael Carter-Williams has been terrific since joining the team and will handle backup PG duties in the postseason.

Isaiah Briscoe will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee on Wednesday.
According to Magic PR, “his return to basketball-related activities will depend on how he responds to rehabilitation following the procedure.” With just a month left in the regular season, Jerian Grant will likely handle the backup PG duties for the foreseeable future.
  • Point Guard #25
Jerian Grant had nine points on 3-of-4 shooting (all 3-pointers) in 17 minutes off Orlando’s bench on Sunday, adding five rebounds and one assist.
Isaiah Briscoe may be done for the season with a small tear in his right meniscus. That leaves the backup PG minutes wide open for Grant, who struggled to gain traction with the same role earlier this season. “He’s going to be important,” coach Steve Clifford said. “We’ve played good games with Jerian, too, and we’re going to have to do that. He shoots the ball well. He’s got good size.” Even if Grant does stabilize the bench unit, he’s unlikely to help most fantasy owners.

An MRI Friday afternoon on Isaiah Briscoe’s right knee revealed a small meniscus tear.
The team is evaluating treatment options, but he is out indefinitely. Surgery on a meniscus can range from 4-8 weeks of recovery time, so Briscoe’s season is likely going to end with this unfortunate news. Jerian Grant figures to handle all of the backup PG minutes behind D.J. Augustin.

Isaiah Briscoe (sore right knee) is questionable for Friday’s game vs. Dallas.
Briscoe is averaging 5.8 points in 21.0 minutes over the Magic’s last four games, serving as the primary backup PG behind D.J. Augustin. If Briscoe is unable to play Friday night, Jerian Grant would likely re-enter the rotation.
  • Point Guard #14
Updating a previous report, D.J. Augustin (sprained right ankle) will start vs. the Cavs on Sunday.
Isaiah Briscoe should maintain his typical backup PG role, therefore, and anyone considering Jerian Grant as a DFS punt should scramble for an alternative.
  • Point Guard #14
D.J. Augustin (right ankle sprain) is “hopeful” to play vs. Cleveland on Sunday.
Augustin is a game-time decision and is warming up to see how his ankle responds. If he can’t go, Jerian Grant and Isaiah Briscoe will share the PG minutes.

D.J. Augustin (right ankle sprain) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Cavaliers.
Augustin hurt his ankle in the first half of Saturday’s game against the Pacers. He started the second half, but was unable to continue playing in the final 20 minutes of the game. Jerian Grant is likely to start if Augustin can’t go, reports Magic beat writer John Denton. Isaiah Briscoe will also see an uptick in minutes if Augustin can’t play.
  • Point Guard #13
Isaiah Briscoe retuned from a two-game absence with eight points, nine rebounds, two assists and one block in 21 minutes against the Warriors on Thursday.
Kyrie Irving’s cousin gave the Magic good minutes off the bench in his return, and Briscoe should continue to lock down all of the minutes behind D.J. Augustin. He could be a streaming options in deeper leagues.
  • Point Guard #13
Isaiah Briscoe (concussion) has been cleared to play vs. the Warriors on Thursday.
Briscoe’s return could bump Jerian Grant from the rotation, though Grant shouldn’t be owned anyway. The backup PG role hasn’t produced fantasy value in Orlando and that’s unlikely to change while D.J. Augustin is healthy.
