It’s not going to be easy for Warney to get an NBA roster spot. He only had a 26-inch vertical, didn’t take any 3-pointers, made just 61.4 percent at the line. On the positive side, he’ll really have to hang his hat on shot blocking with 3.1 per game last year at Stony Brook last season.

It’s a training camp invite, but with the depth the Mavs have at the power forward position, it would be extremely surprising to see the Warney end up on the opening-night roster.

He will be the first player in Stony Brook history to make an NBA roster. Warney has thrived in the G-League with 20.3 points, 9.6 boards, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks, and he also earned MVP honors for Team USA after leading the team to the 2017 AmeriCup title.

He was with the team during the preseason two years ago and he’s been with the Texas Legends in the G League. The 6'7" Warney has been filling it up in the G League with 20.3 points, 9.6 boards, 1.2 steals and 1.2 blocks.
