Kennedy Meeks has agreed to a partially guaranteed deal with the Toronto Raptors.
The center out of North Carolina helped his team win the NCAA championship behind averages of 12.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 steals during his senior season. He shot 55.5 percent from the field, but struggled from the line at 62.2 percent. A 6'10" bruiser weighing in at 260, Meeks will likely be a rebounding specialist early in his career. With Jonas Valanciunas, Lucas Nogueira and Jakob Poeltl all under contract for next season, Meeks will likely spend a lot of time in the G-League.
  • Kennedy Meeks “excelled” at a recent workout for the Nets.
The Nets have two picks in the first round (Nos. 22 and 27) and one pick in the second round (No. 57) and the North Carolina product is currently projected to be a late second rounder. Known for his rebounding and touch around the rim, Meeks helped his team win the NCAA championship during his senior season and compiled averages of 12.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 steals on 55.5 percent shooting from the field and 62.2 percent from the line. He’s a 6'10" bruiser weighing in at 260, but he has conditioning concerns and may struggle on defense at the NBA level early on. Brooklyn would be a nice landing spot due to their lack of depth behind Brook Lopez, so he will be a candidate for them if he’s available at No. 57.
