McKinley Wright IV provided solid value off the bench with 13 points (6-for-14 FGs), two rebounds, three assists and one 3-pointer in a 115-112 loss to Chicago on Friday.
It doesn’t take a genius to know that Dallas did their best to lose this game. Luka Doncic only played 13 minutes. Jaden Hardy only played 16 minutes. Markieff Morris scored 13 points in eight minutes, while JaVale McGee scored nine in seven minutes. Two vets had a hot hand, yet they played Frank Ntilikina 33 minutes. Still, Luka joined six Mavs in scoring in double figures, as Doncic, Wright and Morris all scored 13 each. If Chicago wasn’t playing without three starters, they would’ve blown Dallas out of the water. The Mavs have been eliminated from the playoffs and will keep their first round pick, since it had a top ten protection. Expect Wright to play big minutes again on Sunday in a meaningless game for the Mavs.

  • DAL Guard #11
Kyrie Irving is not on the injury report for Wednesday’s matchup with the Clippers and should make his debut for the team.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski had reported that Kyrie was expected to make his debut in this game, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise at all. He should start at point guard alongside Josh Green with Luka Doncic still sidelined, which will push McKinley Wright IV back to a role off the bench.

  • FA Point Guard #23
McKinley Wright IV, Josh Green, Tim Hardaway Jr., Reggie Bullock, and Dwight Powell will start Monday’s game against the Jazz.
Due to injuries and the trade that sent Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith to Brooklyn, the Mavericks have made multiple changes to their starting lineup. Wright and Bullock are in, while Green gets another start as Luka Doncic (heel) remains sidelined. All three are worth streaming for at least one more game, as Kyrie Irving and Markieff Morris are expected to be available for Wednesday’s game against the Clippers.

  • FA Point Guard #23
McKinley Wright IV (sprained right foot) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Clippers.
Wright has missed Dallas’ last two games with the sprained foot. It would not impact fantasy basketball if he’s cleared to play Sunday afternoon. Leave Wright on the waiver wire.

  • FA Point Guard #23
McKinley Wright (sprained right foot) has been ruled out for Friday’s game against the Heat.
Wright has been on the back end of the Mavericks’ rotation for most of this season, so his absence won’t impact fantasy basketball. Especially with there being a concerted effort to get rookie Jaden Hardy more minutes off the bench.

  • DEN Guard-Forward #10
Tim Hardaway Jr. has been ruled out of Wednesday’s matchup with the Hawks due to a left ankle sprain.
Hardaway Jr. will miss a second straight game after sustaining the ankle injury in Saturday’s loss to Portland. With THJ ruled out, Jaden Hardy and Josh Green (elbow) could see a bump in playing time and usage. McKinley Wright IV (right foot sprain) will join Hardaway on the sidelines.

  • FA Point Guard #44
Frank Ntilikina (left knee soreness) is out for Sunday’s game against the Lakers.
Ntilikina has been dealing with a sore left knee for a little while now. His absence leaves the Mavericks light on the perimeter, as Josh Green (elbow) is also out. Theo Pinson and McKinley Wright IV may get some minutes on the back end of the rotation, but neither is worth streaming.

  • FA Point Guard #23
Dallas signed McKinley Wright to a two-way contract on Saturday.
Wright initially received a training camp invite from Dallas, but he’s played well enough for them to keep him around. He’ll play most of his minutes in the G-League this season, so there are no fantasy ramifications here.

  • FA Point Guard #23
The Mavericks are signing former Minnesota Timberwolf McKinley Wright IV and undrafted Pitt forward Mouhamadou Gueye to training camp deals.
It sounds like both players will be competing for a coveted roster spot in Dallas but it’s hard to imagine either player having fantasy value if they were to make the final roster.

  • HOU Guard #20
The Timberwolves are not expected to extend a qualifying offer to Josh Okogie, according to Darren Wolfson of 5 Eyewitness News.
Okogie appeared in just 49 games in 2020-2021 and averaged just 2.7 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game. After a solid first two seasons in Minnesota, his last two seasons were underwhelming, mainly because of the arrival of Anthony Edwards. It looks like he will now be looking for a new home, as will McKinley Wright, who according to Wolfson, will likely be playing summer league with a different team after finishing this season on a two-way deal with the Timberwolves.
