The Donatas Motiejunas trade between the Pistons, Rockets and 76ers isn’t the only one held up by a physical.
The Cavaliers’ trade for Channing Frye still isn’t complete, either.
Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com:The Cavs have until Tuesday to test Frye physically and add him to the roster, or the trade is voided. He missed the entire season in 2012-13 with a heart condition, but played all 82 games the following year.
Multiple sources said the team is being extra cautious with Frye, given his medical history, but has found no pressing issue to this point. There’s a chance Frye, 32, could make his Cleveland debut Monday at home against the Pistons.
It makes sense for Cleveland to be cautious. Accepting Frye’s salary for next season is far more important than a game or two now.
The Cavaliers also clarified the portion of the deal sending Anderson Varejao to the Trail Blazers was conducted separately. So, that trade is complete, and Varejao – waived by Portland – will sign with the Warriors.
Now, it’s just a matter of determining whether Cleveland clears Frye. He played and played well for Orlando. I’d be surprised if this fell through, but it’s already surprising the uncertainty has lingered so long.
