The NBA Summer League is about rookies and guys trying to make NBA rosters — basically it’s guys 10-15 on the NBA bench and a bunch of players who will be in Europe next season battling it out to impress scouts.

But each year a handful of name players (often top drafted rookies) are there to make things interesting for casual fans.

This year it could be the Knicks Iman Shumpert and his high top fade. That according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

I seriously doubt he would play in every game (back-to-backs are very common) but he could get in some run and work on things.

The league would love it — people flock to see young stars up close, and this is not a draft that inspires that. Plus a few top picks such as Nerlens Noel will not even be there due to injury. So a name player like Shumpert is a draw.

And guys would go at them — as poor as the team quality of play can be at Summer League guys try hard because future paychecks are on the line. Guys would want to show what they can do against an elite NBA defender.
