Jordan Farmar cleared to return, will start for Lakers vs. Heat

The Lakers have had more than their fair share of injury issues for the second straight season, but they’ll be getting a little bit of help back in the lineup just in time for Christmas.

Jordan Farmar has missed the last 10 games with a torn hamstring, one of three L.A. point guards (along with Steve Nash and Steve Blake) who have all been sidelined in recent weeks. It’s difficult to run an efficient NBA offense without any point guards, so getting one of them back is at least a small positive for a Lakers team that has had so few of them this year.

Farmar has been cleared to return after an ultrasound showed that his hamstring has healed, according to the Lakers official Twitter account. He’s expected to be in the starting lineup for the Christmas Day contest with the Heat, alongside Jodie Meeks, Wesley Johnson, Shawne Williams and Pau Gasol.

Announcement: Pro Basketball Talk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $40,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Christmas Day’s games. It’s $25 to join and first prize is $6,000. Starts at 12pm ET on Christmas Day. Here’s the FanDuel link.

Farmar has averaged 9.2 points and 4.4 assists in 18.9 minutes per game for the Lakers this season.
