Phil Jackson got fined over D’Angelo Russell.

Now, Jackson might have a chance to pick Russell for the Knicks.

Shams Charania of RealGM:

Russell’s draft range is No. 1 to No. 4, though it’s unlikely he supplants Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns, who already declared, for the top spot.

The 6-foot-5 Russell has excellent length and good athleticism for a point guard. He’s an impressive playmaker, sinking shots from outside and whizzing passes around the court.

He needs to add strength, which would help him finish at the rim and defend better. But he’s just coming off his freshman year, so his physical development is hardly an issue.

NBA teams should ensure he’s no longer driving illegally, and they’ll have questions about his decision-making. But barring any new red flags, Russell has a bright NBA future.
