Setback with broken foot to keep Bucks’ Delfino out through most of camp

The Bucks picked up Carlos Delfino this summer at a very reasonable $3.2 million per year, part of their “we’re not tanking, but we are reshaping the roster and we’ll not be all that good” strategy (which was led by getting O.J. Mayo).

Now the Bucks are going to be without Delfino for most of training camp at least due to a setback with his surgically repaired foot, reports FoxSportsWisconsin.com. He was wearing a walking boot during media day Monday.

“I had a fracture five months ago and I had surgery,” Delfino said. “I had a little setback the last couple of days. We don’t have a timeframe. They are taking pictures and we’re going to know more in the next couple of days. I can’t wait to get on the court.”

We’ll see how long this lasts, but foot injuries can be tricky, what with the job of an NBA player being to run up and down a hardwood floor and all. Delfino averaged 10.6 points per game points per game last season, shooting 37 percent from three.

Delfino will backup Caron Butler, who will start at the three. While Delfino is out young players Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo will get a lot more time. For a young player in training camp, that is a good opportunity; we’ll see what they do with it.
