Ex-UCLA forward Reeves Nelson will receive a training camp invite from the Lakers.
Nelson will sign a one-year, non-guaranteed contract that could be worth approximately $700,000 if he makes the team. The Los Angeles Times believes he’s a “long shot” to make the club, and it will be interesting to see how he does given his checkered history. Nelson had seven points and 11 rebounds in the Lakers’ final summer league game.

    Lakers sign F Reeves Nelson.
Nelson will get a one-year deal (non-guaranteed) with a chance to make the team. It’s going to be tough for him to crack the final roster, but Nelson’s signing may be an indication that second-round pick Darius Johnson-Odom, who remains unsigned, is nowhere near a lock to stick with the team.
  • The Lakers waived C Ronnie Aguilar and F Reeves Nelson.
Neither player had much of a chance and both probably won’t be catching on with another NBA team. The Lakers still have at least four more cuts to make.
