Gaffney

Gaffney played in summer league with the Jazz, but he’ll continue his career abroad after spending last season in Germany.

Gaffney, a product of the University of Massachusetts, spent this season playing in Germany. He won the 2009-10 A-10 Defensive Player of the Year and has previously spent time with the Celtics.

Gaffney played for Utah’s summer league team before signing in Spain, but he previously had a stint with the Celtics and was also in a previous training camp with the Lakers, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he signs on with a team stateside.

Gaffney is under contract with the German team Tlekom Baskets Bonn, but his deal allows him to attend an NBA training camp. He’s never appeared in an NBA game.

Gaffney has drawn passing interest from NBA teams since leaving college in 2008-09, earning a few unguaranteed deals and trips to the D-League, but he’s yet to appear in an NBA game.

Kelati averaged 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds in five preseason games. Rookie center Tony Gaffney is the next candidate to be waived or sent to the D-League as the Lakers trim their roster.

This brings the Lakers’ roster to 13, and Gaffney doesn’t have any fantasy value.

Gaffney, who turns 29 in two weeks, tried out for the Grizzlies this preseason but didn’t make the cut.

The 2008-09 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, Gaffney will get a look from the Celtics over the summer, but is unlikely to break into a significant role for the team in 2010-11.

Gaffney provides some insurance for Boston’s frontcourt, but even if he got significant minutes (he won’t) it’s too late for him in fantasy leagues.
