Former NBA player Wayman Tisdale had part of his right leg amputated Monday because of bone cancer. His wife said that the operation went as planned.
Tisdale was the first freshman ever named to the Associated Press’ first-team All-American team. He was the Big-8 player of the year each of his three seasons with Oklahoma, and won a gold medal for the U.S. in the 1984 Olympics. He is now an award-winning jazz musician, and said that he plans to resume touring in the fall.
