    Former Oklahoma Sooner and NBA star Wayman Tisdale died on Friday at the age of 44.
    Tisdale, who played 12 seasons in the NBA, including stints with the Pacers, Kings and Suns, lost a long battle with cancer.
  • Former NBA player Wayman Tisdale had part of his right leg amputated Monday because of bone cancer. His wife said that the operation went as planned.
    Tisdale was the first freshman ever named to the Associated Press’ first-team All-American team. He was the Big-8 player of the year each of his three seasons with Oklahoma, and won a gold medal for the U.S. in the 1984 Olympics. He is now an award-winning jazz musician, and said that he plans to resume touring in the fall.
  • Former Suns, Kings and Pacers’ forward Wayman Tisdale is being treated for cancer.
    A cancerous cyst was discovered below his right knee after he broke his leg, but the prognosis for recovery is excellent. “I am so pleased to report that my recovery will be 100 percent and that I have been told that I am otherwise cancer-free,” Tisdale said.
