Reserve point guard Zoran Planinic will be lost for 6-8 weeks due to a fractured left hand.
He and Jason Kidd could swap spots between the active roster and the IL later this week.

Zoran Planinic will return to the floor today. He came off the IL earlier this week.
With Planinic back from a hand injury, if Ron Mercer can give the couple minutes he believes he can contribute, it will be the first time since Dec. 7 that the Nets can go 12 deep.

Despite starting at point guard most of the preseason while Jason Kidd rested, Zoran Planinic has been demoted to third-string.
Coach Byron Scott told non-roster invitee Doug Overton he would be the backup point guard for the time being. “Doug is more experienced,” Scott said. “I don’t think Z is quite ready yet.”

Zoran Planinic’s hand cast is expected to be removed Jan. 10.
He won’t have any value. The Nets like Travis Best backing up Jason Kidd.

There’s was no room for Planinic in Jersey following the additions of Marcus Williams and Hassan Adams. The 2003 first-round pick has already committed to playing for Tau Ceramica in Spain.

The Nets are reportedly set to buyout guard Zoran Planinic’s contract so he can play in Europe this season.
He’s expected to sign a multiyear deal with Spanish Euroleague power, Tau Ceramica and he could be waived by the Nets next week. This is not a big loss to the fantasy community, as he didn’t have value this year.

Zoran Planinic had 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists as the Nets’ starting point guard tonight, but he also committed seven turnovers.
Planinic is still playing like a rookie. He’ll need to cut down on the miscues if he wants to start over Travis Best and Jacque Vaughn in games that matter.
  • BKN Point Guard
Zoran Planinic started at point guard for the Nets tonight, but in keeping with the bizarre theme of this horrible game, failed to register an assist.
He did have 12 points and eight rebounds and was one of few players in this game to actually play well.
  • BKN Point Guard
Zoran Planinic had an MRI on his sore left knee, and it was negative. He likely will play tonight.
Planinic looks like the best option at point guard for the Nets with Jason Kidd out.
  • BKN Point Guard
Zoran Planinic had 16 points, nine assists and three steals today in the best game of his career.
Planinic has had a couple of decent games in the early going, but he’s also played less than a quarter twice. If he starts regularly playing 30 minutes per game, he’ll probably be worth picking up.
