  • LAR Wide Receiver #81
Austin Trammell caught 3-of-6 targets for 23 yards in the Rams’ Week 11 win.
Matthew Stafford looked Trammell’s way quite a bit as he was third on the team in targets. Once Cooper Kupp went down with and injury, Trammell’s involvement increased. It’ll be interesting to see how this develops going forward, but you shouldn’t rush to add him.

Rice senior WR Austin Trammell (undisclosed) will be a game time decision this Saturday against UTEP.
Trammell (5'10/182) has only played in three games this season but he has certainly made them count, recording 16 receptions for 335 yards and six touchdowns. There weren’t any indications that Trammell was injured last Saturday against North Texas, as he caught six passes for 116 yards and a touchdown. His absence would be a devastating blow to the Rice offense if he is indeed unable to go this Saturday against in-state C-USA rival UTEP.

Rice senior WR Austin Trammell caught six passes for 116 yards with a touchdown in a 27-17 loss to North Texas on Saturday.
Trammell (5'10/182) gave the Owls a 10-0 lead in the first quarter on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Michael Collins. From that point on, it was pretty much all Mean Green outside of a garbage-time touchdown in the final minute by the Owls. The COVID-19 pandemic has limited Rice to just three games, but Trammell has been excellent in all of them as seen in his 16-335-6 line in that time frame. If the game is able to be played next week, Trammell should be able to do damage next Saturday against UTEP.

Rice senior WR Austin Trammel caught seven passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday’s 30-6 win over Southern Mississippi.
As Mike Collins is to the team’s recent QB history, Trammel is to the team’s recent history at WR. Though just 5-foot-10 and 182-pounds, Trammel is a force all around the field for the Owls, proving again to be their best big play threat. Trammel snagged a pair of touchdowns last weekend, somehow topping it this week with a trio of ‘em. Moreover, he earned 97 yards more than any other receiver on Rice’s team on the evening, which put him at well over half of the team’s overall receiving yards.

Rice senior WR Austin Trammel brought in three passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 40-34 double overtime loss to Middle Tennessee.
Trammel erupted in Rice’s season opener. Though a seemingly unheralded draft prospect due to, well, playing for Rice, Trammel (5'10/182) came out of the gates swinging for his senior season. Trammel’s production detriment last season was simply dealing with Rice’s poor quarterback play, but new starting quarterback Mike Collins seems to be remedying that issue. Trammel has only ever had one other two-score game in his career, which was back in 2018.

Anthony Treash of Pro Football Focus ranks Rice senior WR Austin Trammell the top returning player for the Owls for the 2020 season.
Trammell (5'10/182) has been a solid performer for the Owls the last two seasons; accruing 60 catches each year and scoring seven touchdowns. Where the wideout has been most effective is operating out of the slot, as Treash notes PFF ranked him 26th of 127 qualified wideouts from the position. “When you consider that only 65% of his targets in the slot were catchable a season ago — the seventh-worst figure among receivers to see at least 50 targets in the slot — Trammell’s performance is that much more impressive,” the analyst writes. If the Owls can get decent quarterback play this fall, Trammell could be even more effective. Obvious point is obvious, but it’s still worth pointing out.

Rice senior WR Austin Trammell caught seven passes for 91 yards in Saturday’s 20-14 win over North Texas.
Trammell has been a bright spot for an otherwise lifeless Rice team all season. Now that they are winning some games, Trammell is getting his shine as one of their best players. For the fourth time this year, Trammell earned more than 75 receiving yards. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound junior is now second on the team in receiving yards with 672 yards.
  • Wide Receiver #81
Rice senior WR Austin Trammell led the Owls with four receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 20-7 loss to Marshall.
Trammell (5'10/185) has been one of the few bright spots for the Owls this season, as he has caught 46 passes for 559 yards and three touchdowns. The senior wide receiver has scored a touchdown in each of Rice’s last two games, and he’ll look to extend that streak to three on November 16 when the Owls visit Middle Tennessee.
  • Wide Receiver #81
Rice senior WR Austin Trammell brought in nine passes for 75 yards in Saturday’s 31-27 loss against UTSA.
Trammell is one of the few bright spots on an otherwise anemic Rice offense. Trammell, a 5-foot-10, 195-pound senior, has now caught at least five passes in four of the last five games. Even with Rice losing, Trammell should continue to earn catches and get his numbers.
  • Wide Receiver #81
Rice senior WR Austin Trammell snagged five receptions for 113 yards in a 35-20 loss to UAB.
Trammell has his fourth game out of five that he’s played in with at least five receptions, and this is the first game that he’s gone over the hundred-yard barrier in 2019. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound wideout deserves to be playing for a better club than Rice, if we’re being honest, but that’s not the way these things work. Trammell and the Owls take on UTSA after a bye in two weeks.
