Rams sixth-round WR Bud Sasser says he received a second opinion on his heart condition at the Mayo Clinic, and that he’s “fine.”
The Rams don’t agree, and have placed Sasser on the NFI list. It’s where he’ll spend his entire rookie season, absent an injury settlement.
  • LA Wide Receiver #81
    Rams waived/injured WR Bud Sasser.
Sasser was the Rams’ sixth-round pick at no. 201 overall. He entered the league with a heart condition, and has been unable to gain medical clearance. Sasser figured to compete for the Rams’ final receiver spot.
  • LA Wide Receiver #81
Rams signed sixth-round WR Bud Sasser to a four-year contract.
Sasser has an NFL frame at 6-foot-3, 219 pounds, but is more of a slot type than outside threat. He’ll fight to bring up the rear of the Rams’ weak receiver corps, but should see the majority of his rookie snaps on special teams.
  • LA Wide Receiver #81
Rams released WR Bud Sasser with an injury settlement.
The 201st overall pick in May’s draft, Sasser was diagnosed with a heart condition before rookie camp, and could not get cleared by Rams doctors. Sasser believes he is “fine” after receiving a second opinion from the Mayo clinic. He needs another team to sign off his on health to get an NFL shot.

Rams hired 2015 sixth-round WR Bud Sasser as their External Football Affairs Coordinator.
Sasser was the 201st pick in May’s draft out of Mizzou. Once he reported to the team, it was revealed he had a heart condition that wouldn’t allow him to play football. The Rams did good by him and hired him, giving him his own office and desk. Sasser will work with Rams alumni and in community affairs.
  • LA Wide Receiver #81
Rams selected Missouri WR Bud Sasser with the No. 201 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Sasser (6'3/219) broke out as a slot receiver following the departures of L’Damian Washington and Dorial Green-Beckham, posting a 77-1,003-12 receiving line as a senior. Snubbed for the Combine and overlooked by the draft community, Sasser showed passable athleticism at the Mizzou Pro Day, running 4.53 with a 34 1/2-inch vertical and 10-foot broad jump. Sasser doesn’t project as an explosive perimeter receiver in the NFL, but could do some damage in a “big slot” role.
