Nkang

He was twice the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year. A linebacker at Elon, Nkang is 5-11/220 and runs a 4.51 in the forty-yard dash. We suspect the Jaguars will try him at strong safety, as they already have top-shelf depth in their linebacking corps.

Nkang was never much of a defensive prospect, but he may catch on elsewhere as a special teamer.

Nkang’s injury was unknown. He can return in Week 7.

Nkang led the team in special teams tackles last year as a rookie and is coming off the PUP list. Gardner was an undrafted rookie.

Nkang made seven special teams tackles in seven games. He’ll likely be on the club in 2009 if he’s healthy, but isn’t much of a defensive prospect.
