Texans LB Charlie Anderson sprained his knee.
Mostly a special teamer, the Texans haven’t set a timetable for Anderson’ return.

Quentin Moses and Charlie Anderson were the Dolphins starting outside linebackers at OTAs last week.
It’s a surprise that Moses is running ahead of Cameron Wake. With Joey Porter and Jason Taylor gone, this season was supposed to be Wake’s coming out party. We suspect Wake will overtake Moses by the time Week 1 rolls around.

The Texans are expected to insert DT Anthony Maddox and SLB Charlie Anderson into the starting lineup Sunday.
Anderson began the year as a starter but eventually lost the job to Danny Clark, who’s now battling a groin injury. Maddox will move into Amobi Okoye’s spot. Okoye had five sacks through his first nine games, but has just one tackle in each of the last three weeks and admits he’s hit the “rookie wall.”
  • FA Defensive Lineman
Dolphins OLB Cameron Wake is expected to take on the nickel pass rushing role held by Charlie Anderson last season.
Wake would enter in passing situations, with Joey Porter moving over to replace Matt Roth on the strong side. Wake’s long arms and explosive first step made him the two-time defensive player of the year in Canada.

The Dolphins appear to have converted Charlie Anderson from outside to inside linebacker.
Anderson has practiced at the new position all week. It’s probably where he should’ve been all along. Anderson’s strength is on special teams, but if he’s going to have to play defense in a pinch he’s better off not rushing the QB.

Dolphins OLB Joey Porter (hamstring) is sitting out Wednesday’s practice.
Porter’s hamstring tightened up on him during Sunday’s loss to the Chargers. Expect Charlie Anderson and Cameron Wake to take the majority of reps in practice this week.

Dolphins OLB Charlie Anderson returned to practice Thursday for the first time since he injured his hamstring during a preseason game on August 9.
Anderson has lost his starting spot on the depth chart to Matt Roth, but could work his way back into a rotation. He couldn’t say if he’d be ready to play by Saturday’s preseason game.
  • FA Linebacker
Dolphins OLB Joey Porter is reportedly worried his career could be threatened by his chronic back injury.
Porter reportedly has been in pain for over a month. Miami is planning for an “extended absence,” trying DE Phillip Merling at Porter’s right outside spot behind Charlie Anderson. This could crush the Fins’ pass rush early on.
