Dolphins CB Byron Jones agreed to a restructured contract.
Jones had ankle surgery earlier this month, with injury protection making his contract fully guaranteed for this season. The restructure converts $13.25 million of his base salary into a signing bonus to create $10.6 million in cap space. Jones now carries a $1.12 million salary for 2022. Dolphins FS Clayton Fejedelem also reworked his deal, clearing an additional $750K for Miami.

  • Dolphins agreed to terms with S Clayton Fejedelem, formerly of the Bengals, on a three-year contract.
Fejedelem, 27 in June, played just 111 snaps for the Bengals on defense last year and isn’t being viewed as a starter in Miami. His main contributions will be on special teams chasing down kicks and punts.
  • Bengals signed No. 245 overall pick S Clayton Fejedelem to a four-year contract.
A prototypical in-the-box safety, Fejedelem followed up a productive Illinois career with a solid Pro Day showing. He’ll begin his career on special teams, but could be the rare seventh-rounder to eventually carve out a role on defense.
  • Bengals selected Illinois S Clayton Fejedelem with the No. 245 overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft.
Fejedelem (6'0/204) spent two years at Illinois after transferring up from Division-NAIA St. Xavier, earning a starting job as a senior and tallying a whopping 140 tackles (4.5 TFL) with two interceptions and a forced fumble. Although Fejedelem has been typecast as a one-dimensional box safety by NFL scouts, he raised awareness at the Illini Pro Day, running 4.54 and showing explosion in the vertical (40 1/2") and broad (10'1") jumps. Fejedelem will open his career on special teams, but he could emerge as an Andrew Sendejo type down the line.
