Vikings hired ex-Broncos RBs coach Curtis Modkins as RBs coach/run-game coordinator.
One of the best RBs coaches in the sport, Modkins received high praise for his work with Phillip Lindsay, Melvin Gordon, and Javonte Williams in Denver. He’s been coaching running backs in the NFL since 2008 and even served as the Bills’ OC from 2010-2012. Modkins will get to work with Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison in Minnesota under new coach Kevin O’Connell.

The Eagles are speaking with Broncos RBs coach Curtis Modkins about their offensive coordinator vacancy.
Modkins has been the RBs coach in Denver for three years and although his teams never posted elite running numbers, Denver averaged more rushing yards per game than half the league in two of his three years with the team. He previously served as the OC for San Francisco for a season and the OC for Buffalo for three years. His teams peaked at 14th in yards per game and points per game. Modkins has spent the rest of his 13-year NFL career as an RBs coach for various teams. The Eagles have already locked up Colts OC Nick Sirianni as their next head coach so it’s possible that Modkins isn’t the play-caller but his track record is lackluster either way. Philadelphia is also speaking to Chargers OC Shane Steichen about their OC vacancy.

Bears hired ex-49ers OC Curtis Modkins as RBs coach.
Modkins served one season as the 49ers’ OC but was shipped out along with the rest of ex-coach Chip Kelly’s staff. Kelly called the plays for the Niners. Modkins has mostly been an RBs coach for the past 15 years. He replaces Stan Drayton in Chicago after Drayton left for the University of Texas.

49ers hired Curtis Modkins as offensive coordinator.
Modkins was the only man left after Bills RBs coach Anthony Lynn took himself out of consideration earlier today. The Niners have also tabbed Pat Flaherty as their new offensive line coach. Modkins spent the last three years as Detroit’s RBs coach. Before that, Modkins served as the OC under Chan Gailey in Buffalo from 2010-12. Chip Kelly already said he plans to call plays on offense.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Lions RBs coach Curtis Modkins is a candidate for the 49ers’ offensive-coordinator vacancy.
Modkins is also the Lions’ running-game coordinator, but he might not want to make that known after the Lions finished dead last in rushing offense this season at just over 83 yards per game. Modkins has been coaching in the NFL for the past eight years and has coordinator experience from his days under Chan Gailey in Buffalo. Coach Chip Kelly is going to call plays in San Francisco.

Broncos hired ex-Bears assistant Curtis Modkins as RBs coach.
Aside from a one-year interlude as the 49ers’ offensive coordinator in 2016, Modkins has been an NFL RBs coach since 2010. He oversaw a solid Bears attack in 2017. He has some pieces to work with in Denver in C.J. Anderson, Devontae Booker and De’Angelo Henderson, but someone else figures to be added to the mix either through the draft or free agency.
