He also admitted that his follow-up procedure was because he was dealing with bone spurs. There’s not really any doubt that Nix will be ready for training camp at this point, and the Broncos seem to be taking it easy with him during mandatory minicamp.

Cooper was arrested for six different charges over the last few weeks, including second-degree assault and domestic violence. It’s certainly a situation that could lead to an NFL suspension at some point once all due diligence is taken care of. Cooper’s status appears to be uncertain going forward.
  • DEN Running Back #12
This one certainly slipped through the cracks. Harvey reportedly “hasn’t done much team work in OTAs but has been practicing,” according to Evans. While we don’t know when Harvey underwent the surgery, it presumably occurred shortly after the loss to the Patriots, so we would expect him to be at the tail end of his recovery. The second-year back totaled 896 yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns in his rookie season, but he will face competition for touches this season with J.K. Dobbins returning and rookie Jonah Coleman now added to the mix. In games that both Harvey and Dobbins played in last season, Harvey averaged just 7.9 opportunities per game compared to the 17.9 opps/gm he saw in games he missed, with Dobbins handling the majority of the rushing work. Hopefully Harvey will be good to go when training camp kicks off next month, but this will be something worth watching until we have received word that he is fully healthy and ready to go.

Nix is expected to have a role at the team’s mandatory minicamp this week, but Payton seems confident that his QB1 will be ready for training camp after undergoing a cleanup procedure on his ankle in late April. How much work Nix does in minicamp is to be determined, but he continues to trend in the right direction with training camp just over a month away.
  • DEN Wide Receiver
After a strong showing in the 2026 UFL season, where he racked up a league-high 641 yards and three touchdowns on 29 receptions. The former fourth-round pick hasn’t played an NFL snap since 2020 and appeared in only two regular-season games after bouncing around the league for six seasons. Butler joins a relatively deep receiver room in Denver and should be considered a long shot to make the 53-man roster.
  • DEN Tight End #1
Engram is “making light work of linebackers in coverage with eye-widening catches,” which Renck thinks could suggest Engram is headed toward a bounce-back campaign. Renck also believes Engram will be more involved in the offense thanks to Davis Webb’s promotion to offensive coordinator. Webb recruited Engram, his former teammate, to join the Broncos last year. Renck also rightly believes new WR Jaylen Waddle will command safety attention, clearing out the middle of the field for Engram. However, he does not address the fact that Waddle represents a massive increase in target competition. Renck also spends the entire piece comparing Engram to a banana and asks whether said banana is ripe or stuck in a tailpipe. Seriously. Engram can be viewed as a potential TE2 candidate in best ball, but we fear a tailpipe scenario is in play for those hoping he produces a TE1 outcome.

A week after being arrested for domestic violence and criminal mischief, Cooper again finds himself in trouble. This time, the Broncos’ pass rusher is being charged with misdemeanor harassment, violating a protective order, and a felony charge of second-degree assault has been added to his list of charges from last week. According to the Denver Post, the felony charge comes after forensic evidence revealed Cooper’s former girlfriend had been strangled, while his most recent arrest comes after Cooper reportedly showed up to her house on Thursday and knocked on her door for “5-10" minutes and also attempted to contact her multiple times over the phone. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today. Earlier this week, Cooper pled not guilty to the charges that stemmed from his first arrest and had a jury trial date set for July 22nd. In a statement released by the Broncos, the team said they are “disappointed to learn of Jonathon Cooper’s arrest on Thursday and continue to review the matter.”
  • DEN Quarterback #10
This is great news. Last week, Payton said he expected Nix would “have more of a role” at mandatory minicamp, which is scheduled for June 16-18. Today is the last day of organized team activities, so getting on the field before next week is a positive. Nix did not participate in team drills today. Payton reiterated that Nix “will be out there for some work next week for minicamp.” Hopefully, he can increase his participation level.
  • DEN Head Coach
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Payton is now under contract through 2030. Schefter noted that Broncos GM George Paton is also signed through the 2030 season. Payton came out of retirement to coach the Broncos in 2023. His first season with Russell Wilson was a struggle, but Payton has since found his stride with Bo Nix under center. The duo won 10 games in Nix’s rookie season and improved that mark to 14 last year. Had Nix not suffered a season-ending injury in the Divisional Round, Denver likely would have made it past the Patriots en route to a Super Bowl appearance. As expected, the Broncos have no intentions of letting Payton go anytime soon.
  • DEN Cornerback #29
McMillian, 26, signed the one-year restricted free-agent tender that the Broncos offered him this offseason, but he was ostensibly hoping that the front office would offer him an extension this summer. The former undrafted free agent has been the Broncos’ starting slot cornerback since 2023. The Broncos, however, possess a deep cornerback unit, so they are in no rush to invest more at the position. McMillian will make $5.767 million this year.
