Broncos declared RB Tyler Badie, DT Tyler Onyedim, TE Dallen Bentley, OL Kage Casey, DL Jordan Jackson, and QB Sam Ehlinger inactive for Week 1 against the Chiefs.

Badie’s inclusion on the Week 1 inactives list means rookie Jonah Coleman gets the nod as the RB3 behind J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey. It remains unlikely Coleman contributes meaningful counting stats in his first professional appearance, but the fact he is now confirmed to be ahead of Badie is meaningful to his longterm upside in what should be one of the top rushing attacks in the league.

The Dan Le Batard Show discusses Ashton Jeanty’s struggles with the Raiders and ESPN's Rex Ryan’s criticism of the running back after Jeanty took a shot at the Jets’ tackling ahead of their Week 8 matchup.

Coleman out-carried Dobbins 11-7 and was the only Broncos running back to earn a target, of which he saw five. Most importantly, Coleman was on the field for goal line duties, and he cashed in with a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Though he only averaged 3.7 yards per carry, Coleman was a handful for Chiefs defenders to bring down, routinely creating missed tackles while racking up yards after contact. Coleman’s best rep of the day was a 51-yard catch-and-run to set up his touchdown on the next play. Coleman saw all of the high-value touches in the backfield while leading the way in carries and targets. The takeover is all but complete, putting Coleman in the RB2 ranks for Week 9 against the Panthers.
  • DEN Running Back #12
Harvey was added to the injury report Thursday with a knee injury before being unable to practice Friday, ultimately ruled out for the team’s divisional clash against the Chiefs. Expect Jonah Coleman to serve as the primary rusher in addition to the possibility he sees his pass game involvement tick up in the absences of both Harvey and Tyler Badie, the latter of whom is on injured reserve. The increase in opportunity is enough to vault Coleman into viable FLEX territory for Week 8.
  • DEN Running Back #20
He also noted that Coleman’s touches were explosive. It’s hard to sit here with much certainty about what looks to be a three-headed Broncos running back room where every back has their niche, but Coleman probably enters Week 8 as the favorite of the three to crack 10 touches. Payton added, for the 17th time since he became Broncos coach, that he needed to get more touches for Marvin Mims on offense. We’ll believe that when we see it.
  • DEN Running Back #20
Coleman returned to action after missing a month because of an ankle injury. He was immediately in the mix for touches and saw three opportunities before RJ Harvey got his first look. Coleman went on to lead the Broncos in carries. Both he and Harvey earned two targets apiece. Unfortunately for Coleman, he was the only Denver back who didn’t find the end zone in Week 7. Coleman has made a mess of a backfield that had just begun to stabilize. Now all three Denver backs will be low-end FLEX options for Week 8 versus the Chiefs.
  • DEN Running Back #20
Outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper is also active. Coleman hasn’t played since Week 2, when he turned 10 carries into 39 yards and a score. The Broncos were banged up at running back that week. They have since established a stable two-man rotation with JK Dobbins operating between the tackles and RJ Harvey handling passing downs. Coleman will likely take a backseat to those two this week.
  • DEN Running Back #20
Coleman missed the minimum four games as he tended to an ankle injury suffered in Week 2. He led the team in snaps in that contest and could return to the primary rushing role considering the inefficient play of J.K. Dobbins in his absence, making him worthy of a start in fantasy circles in a plus matchup against the Cardinals in his first game back.
  • DEN Running Back #20
Coleman practiced in full all week, but the Broncos could technically give him another week to rehab the ankle. If active, there are too many unknowns regarding Coleman’s potential workload to start him in the FLEX, but he must be rostered in 12-team leagues.
  • DEN Running Back #28
Badie is likely headed toward a demotion with Jonah Coleman (ankle) inching toward a return. The latter player is questionable to play this week.
  • DEN Running Back #20
Coleman is trending toward returning for the Broncos’ Week 7 game against the Cardinals. His teammate, RB Tyler Badie (thumb), remains sidelined. Coleman makes for a risky start if active, but the Broncos’ coaching staff likes him. He should be rostered in 12-team formats.
  • DEN Running Back #28
Badie was a non-participant in practice with a thumb injury. With Jonah Coleman designated to return from injured reserve, Badie does not need to be rostered for fantasy purposes.

Nick Sirianni said “Tanner (McKee) is our guy” when asked about the team’s quarterback situation.

Speaking to media Monday following the team’s sixth consecutive loss, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni expressed confidence in his 26 year old quarterback, saying, “Tanner is out guy.” He was asked directly if he was considering a change at quarterback following McKee’s third straight loss, quickly putting those rumors to rest. McKee appears to be the team’s starting quarterback, at least in the immediate future, as they limp past the half way point of the regular season with a Week 9 meeting against the division rival Giants.

Kendrick Bourne suffered a fractured tibia in the Cardinals’ Week 8 win over the Cowboys, ending his season.

Shortly after head coach Mike LaFleur said Bourne’s injury could be season-ending, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Bourne suffered a fractured tibia that will sideline him for the next three months, effectively ending his season. Bourne caught 26 passes for 263 scoreless yards in his first season with the Cardinals. He remains under contract for the 2027 season, but the Cardinals can release him for a dead cap hit of $2.2 million.

Jaguars S Eric Murray (elbow) will miss the remainder of the season.

The Jaguars lost two starters on the defensive side of the ball in Sunday’s win over the Colts, with Murray and DT DaVon Hamilton (quad) both being dealt season-ending blows. Murray, 32, started all six games he appeared in for the Jags this season, totaling 15 tackles while earning a PFF coverage grade of 60.4. His loss, along with the loss of Hamilton, deals a substantial blow to the Jags’ run defense, as both players have been key contributors in stopping the ground game.

Falcons DE James Pearce returned from his eight-game suspension and is eligible to play in Week 9 against the Bengals.

Pearce is eligible to play in Week 9 against the Bengals and will likely join the team when it flies to Madrid for the international matchup. Pearce’s return should provide a nice spark to the 17th-ranked Falcons’ defense after the 2025 first-rounder racked up 10.5 sacks and 10 TFLs as a rookie while totaling 26 tackles.

Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur said Bam Knight is in the league’s concussion protocol.

Knight will need to clear protocol if he hopes to suit up in time to play in Week 9 against the Seahawks. The former UDFA has turned in a solid season thus far for the Cardinals, rushing for 28-168-0 while adding another six receptions for 43 additional yards. With Jeremiyah Love (ankle) likely to miss time, Knight could again find himself in a split with Tyler Allgeier when he returns. The Cardinals will likely need to address their running back room at some point in the week with Allgeier currently being the only healthy back on the roster.

Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur said Jeremiyah Love is dealing with a new ankle injury.

According to LaFleur, the injury is to “a new portion of the ankle” that Love hadn’t previously injured. LaFleur didn’t dismiss the possibility of Love being placed on injured reserve, suggesting he would wait until Wednesday to decide if that is on the table. A tough rookie season only gets tougher for Love, who sounds like he will be at risk of missing more time even if he isn’t an IR candidate. Meanwhile, Bam Knight, who left Week 8’s game with a concussion, is in the league’s protocol, making Tyler Allgeier the only healthy back on the roster entering Week 9 against the Seahawks.

Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur said Kendrick Bourne could be at risk of missing the remainder of the season after suffering an ankle injury in Week 8’s win over the Cowboys.

It’s a tough break for Bourne, who was getting more involved with the offense following the trade of Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Texans. If his season is over, he finishes it with a 26-263-0 receiving line on 38 targets. He also topped 70 yards twice in the seven games he appeared in. Bourne signed a two-year, $10 million contract earlier this offseason but can be released by the Cardinals in exchange for a $2.2 million dead cap hit. It wouldn’t be surprising if the 10-year vet was playing elsewhere next season.

Jacoby Brissett will serve as the Cardinals’ emergency QB3 in Week 9 against the Seahawks.

After holding out part of the offseason for a new deal that was fitting for a starting QB in the league, Brissett now finds himself as the QB3 of the Cardinals entering Week 9. There’s a good chance this is the end of the road for Brissett as far as his time with the Cardinals is concerned, as a handful of dire QB situations around the league could warrant a trade to a contender who is looking to upgrade at QB before the trade deadline. Brissett was solid last season for a three-win Cardinals team, throwing for 3,366 yards, 23 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in 12 starts. He currently sports a 1,719-10-7 line this season but has struggled in his last three starts, throwing just one touchdown to two interceptions. With Brissett being demoted to QB3, rookie Carson Beck will be elevated to QB2 on game days, and draws ever closer to making his first career start at some point in the season.

Gardner Minshew will start in Week 9 against the Seahawks.

After leading a second-half comeback against the Cowboys in which he threw for 188 yards and three touchdowns on 17-of-23 passing, the move to Minshew felt inevitable. Now, the eighth-year journeyman will have a chance to make his first start for the Cardinals in what’s sure to be a tough road matchup against the Seahawks. Minshew has long proved his value as a serviceable backup in the league and should provide enough to keep the fantasy stocks of Trey McBride and Michael Wilson up, but he could be in for a tough outing against a top-flight Seahawks defense. He shouldn’t be treated as anything more than a desperation streamer in 2QB/superflex leagues, while Wilson’s expectations should fall somewhere in the WR3 range.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Seahawks plan to activate Jadarian Price from injured reserve and that he will play in Week 8 against the Bears.

Price and Zach Charbonnet will both make their returns from injured reserve tonight, putting the Seahawks’ backfield at full strength heading into a pivotal NFC matchup. It’s hard to know how the touches will be spread out in this one, which makes both backs hard to trust on Monday night against the Bears. Price averaged 11.5 carries per game in his two full games played this season, but Charbonnet should eat into that somewhat. Fantasy managers looking to play either Seattle running back in this one should temper expectations until we have more data to go on in the coming weeks.
