With Priest Holmes unlikely to play, Derrick Blaylock looks like the Chiefs week two starter.
Larry Johnson will get carries too. We’d guess a 2:1 ratio of carries between Blaylock and Johnson, with Blaylock playing all passing downs. He’s worth picking up in all leagues.
  • WAS Running Back
Backup running back Derrick Blaylock, who did not practice Friday and has been limited by a thigh injury all week, will be a game-time decision.
If Blaylock can’t go, Larry Johnson could see some carries behind Priest Holmes. Holmes and Tony Gonzalez may be the only Chiefs worth starting this week in Tampa.
  • WAS Running Back
Derrick Blaylock indicated Wednesday that he isn’t likely to play this weekend.
Larry Johnson’s considerable value goes up even more with this news. Omar Easy will likely back Larry Johnson up.
  • WAS Running Back
Derrick Blaylock is inactive for today’s game.
Larry Johnson will start and carry the load. Omar Easy will back him up. Other Chiefs inactives:
  • WAS Running Back
Derrick Blaylock sprained his MCL on Monday night. He’ll backup Larry Johnson this weekend, if he can play.
Blaylock will have limited touches if he does play. We wouldn’t drop him yet, but his fantasy usefulness this season is probably over.
  • WAS Running Back
Derrick Blaylock will start at running back for the Chiefs Monday night.
He’ll continue to split carries with Larry Johnson. Since they are playing the depleted Titans, both are solid flex position options this week.
  • WAS Running Back
Derrick Blaylock (leg) is limited at Jets minicamp.
The forgotten man in the New York backfield, Blaylock may have to stay healthy to keep his roster spot. In true Belichickian style, coach Eric Mangini called it a “leg” injury. Expect that response for every injury under the waist.
  • WAS Running Back
Derrick Blaylock started at running back and rushed ten times for 46 yards Saturday.
Blaylock was impressive on a long opening drive from New York. With Cedric Houston sitting out the first half, Blaylock appears to be on top of the depth chart in New York. He’s draftable in fantasy leagues, but we suspect New York will add another runner.
  • WAS Running Back
Derrick Blaylock’s chances of starting at running back in New York go down following the acquisition of Kevan Barlow.
Barlow, for all his faults, is a good pass protector and receiver. So is rookie Leon Washington. Those are Blaylock’s strengths, so it’s hard to see where he fits in. He looks like a backup on a bad offense at best.
  • WAS Running Back
Derrick Blaylock started New York’s third preseason game, rushing nine times for 25 yards.
It’s not a huge surprise, but it shows that Kevan Barlow won’t just be handed the starting gig. Blaylock outplayed him Friday with solid interior running and still has a shot to get the Week 1 start. Unlike Cedric Houston, Blaylock’s roster spot is safe.
