Lions traded up with the Jets to select Michigan EDGE Derrick Moore with the No. 44 overall pick.
The Lions paid pick No. 128 to move up six spots. Moore (6’4/255) profiles as a high-end disruptor after posting 16.0 havoc plays, 10.5 TFL and 10.0 sacks across 212 pass-rush reps, pairing that production with a superb 17.5 percent pressure rate. His 37 total pressures and 13 sacks created highlight a finisher’s mentality, while his 2.57 time-to-first-pressure reflects explosive get-off and early-rep wins. Moore’s 92.3 percent tackle rate and 77.1 percent run-stop share show dependable play finishing, though his 4 run stops suggest more of a penetration-based defender than a stack-and-shed anchor. He wins with burst, bend and urgency, consistently stressing tackles with speed-to-power conversion and a relentless motor that shows up in his 19.7 percent 3rd-down pressure rate. Moore flashes disruptive hand usage and closing acceleration, forcing two fumbles while regularly collapsing the pocket from wide alignments. However, his play strength can be challenged against longer tackles, and he can be displaced when forced to play through contact in the run game. Moore has eventual starting upside in an attacking front, where his explosiveness and pass-rush efficiency can be maximized.
  • Michigan received a verbal commitment from four-star DL Derrick Moore, formerly committed to Oklahoma.
After Lincoln Reilly left for USC, Moore (6'4/250) promptly de-committed from Oklahoma. He was being pursued by Ole Miss and Alabama but ended up picking Michigan. A 0.9674 four-star recruit per the 24/7 Sports composite, Moore was compared to Danielle Hunter by 24/7 Sports’ Brian Dohn with how he carries his weight, ability to play inside and out, and his twitchy abilities with his pass rush.

  • Former Oklahoma 2022 four-star commit DL Derrick Moore has reopened his recruitment.
Moore (6'4/250) is another Oklahoma recruit/player to make a decision to move on from the team following Lincoln Riley’s decision to take the head coaching job at USC. Moore had been committed to Oklahoma since September 25th of this year, but is now open to playing ball elsewhere in 2022. Moore, a native of Baltimore, MD, is a four-star recruit and the no. 17 defensive lineman in the nation according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings. Prior to committing to Oklahoma, Moore had also received offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Florida, and Florida State, to name a few.

  • Georgia Tech received a verbal commitment from three-star 2022 WR Derrick Moore.
Moore (6'1/185) is rated as a three-star prospect from Lawrenceville, GA who carries a 5.5 prospect rating from Rivals. He currently sports four other offers from Coastal Carolina, Pitt, Air Force and Maryland, a noticeably ACC-heavy group. Moore has an official visit to Georgia Tech’s campus coming up on June 11th.
