Coach Rex Ryan conceded that the chances of LaDainian Tomlinson (knee) playing on a short week are “probably not” good.
Tomlinson and Jeremy Kerley (knee) both worked with trainers off to the side while teammates went through positional drills during the portion of practice open to the media. Ryan expects both players to be game-time decisions if they end up traveling to Denver, though that decision hasn’t been made yet. Ex-Broncos practice squad member Eron Riley will be active if Kerley sits out.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Jets WR Jeremy Kerley suffered a left knee injury in Sunday’s game and will be held from Tuesday’s practice
Kerley had an MRI but the results haven’t been made public yet, and his status for Thursday’s game is in doubt. So is the status of backup WR Patrick Turner, who left Sunday’s game due to a kidney injury and is also questionable for Thursday. This leaves just WR Eron Riley to play as the third receiver if those two cannot go, and we fully expect the Jets to kick the tires of some WRs this week.
  • NYJ Wide Receiver #19
    Jets waived WR Eron Riley.
Undrafted out of Duke, Riley was nabbed from the Broncos’ practice squad back in October. He was active for just two games with the Jets, failing to catch a pass.
  • NYJ Wide Receiver #19
Jets signed WR Eron Riley off the Broncos’ practice squad.
The Jets are in search of wideout depth after giving up on Derrick Mason. Riley, a former undrafted free agent from Duke, was impressive in the preseason with six catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns in four games.
  • FA Running Back #37
Broncos signed RBs Jeremiah Johnson and Brandon Minor, WR Eron Riley, DE Mitch Unrein, LB Dominic Douglas, and S Nick Polk to reserve/future contracts.
They were all on Denver’s practice squad. We’ve always liked Johnson’s talent and preseason production, but he’s a better fit in a one-cut-and-go scheme than the power system the Broncos ran under Josh McDaniels and Eric Studesville. His agent should be hoping for a zone-blocking coach.
  • NYJ Wide Receiver #19
Ravens waived WR Eron Riley, TE Davon Drew, and OL Devin Tyler.
Through Drew has quite a bit of physical ability, the deck was stacked against him following the draft selections of Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta. Tyler was a huge project. Riley was buried on Baltimore’s receiver chart.
