Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said that Kolby Smith (knee) would practice Wednesday.
Edwards indicated that Smith would go through individual drills, then the medical staff would see where he’s at before team work. Even if Smith is active against the Titans, Gilbert Harris is expected to see carries.

At his Tuesday press conference, Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said RB Kolby Smith was “questionable” after tweaking his knee in Week 14.
Edwards noted that Smith continued to play after the injury and “should be good to go”. He is a adequate RB2 option against the Titans, but Smith could miss some practice time so monitor the situation. RB Gilbert Harris would be next in line if you feel the need to grab the backup.

Chiefs declared RB Gilbert Harris, LB Mickey Pimentel, T Travis Leffew, DE Khreem Smith, T Adrian Jones, TE Michael Allan, DT James Reed, and QB David Greene inactive for Week 17.
Jackie Battle will back up Kolby Smith and is a direct threat to his goal-line carries. WLB Donnie Edwards is active. Samie Parker and Jeff Webb should share snaps opposite Dwayne Bowe after WR Eddie Kennison went on IR this week.
  • KC Running Back
Chiefs waived RB Gilbert Harris and DE Khreem Smith.
Some house cleaning. Harris can also play fullback, but doesn’t have NFL caliber running skills. Smith is a practice squad type without a bright future.
  • KC Running Back
Chiefs signed RB Gilbert Harris from their practice squad.
Harris, a former undrafted free agent from Arizona, sat out the 2006 season. He is slow, but could be used in short-yardage situations behind Kolby Smith. That appears to be his upside. The way it’s looking now, the Chiefs’ backfield is going to be all Smith’s for the rest of the season.

Kolby Smith left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury, but was later able to return.
It’s unclear exactly when Smith hurt the ankle, but it’s possible it happened while in pass protection. Gilbert Harris saw action in his absence, but Smith was later able to return.
