Jaguars released defensive end Hugh Douglas.
Wow. Douglas will go down as one of the biggest busts in recent free agent history, not even making it to his second season with the Jags. Following N.D. Kalu’s injury, rumors of a Douglas return to Philadelphia are likely.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Hugh Douglas is unlikely to return to the Eagles next season.
He’s nearing the end of the line. He was active for the Super Bowl, but didn’t play a snap. He’s no longer an IDP option.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Hugh Douglas played the entire season with a rotator cuff tear that slowly got worse throughout the year.
That explains his lack of playing time in the Super Bowl. He also played with a torn biceps and will have surgery for the shoulder injury soon. At 33, his NFL future is murky.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Eagles signed defensive end Hugh Douglas to a one-year contract.
That didn’t take long. Douglas will hope to fill N.D. Kalu’s void at end, although he’ll likely play in a rotation. The Eagles acted quickly, with both Washington and Chicago showing serious interest immediatley.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
    Eagles released DE Hugh Douglas.
He never recovered from offseason shoulder surgery. It wouldn’t be shock if he re-joined the team later in the season.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Former Eagles defensive end Hugh Douglas has been appointed the Eagles ''team ambassador’’ for the 2005 season.
He’ll be a spokesman and work in community relations. It’s unlikely Douglas will ever play again, unless the team suffers massive injuries at defensive end. If this is it, Douglas may best be remembered for slamming Bears QB Jim Miller to the ground on his passing shoulder while “blocking” during an interception return in the 1992 NFC Championship Game. The hit forced the NFL to change its rules on such returns so that no one not directly involved in the play can be touched.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Hugh Douglas and the Eagles will finalize a one-year deal before the end of the week to keep him in Philadelphia.
His injuries and inconsistent play made it easy for Douglas to stay. He’s no longer an IDP option, but can be a useful reserve for the Eagles.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Hugh Douglas showed up for the first day of the Jaguars offseason conditioning program in an effort to keep his job.
The free agent bust at defensive end could be released with a tiny cap hit after June 1st. The Jaguars could use a veteran on their line, however, and just hopes he returns to his form as a member of the Eagles.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Jags DE Hugh Douglas has looked ordinary thus far in training camp.
The former sack artist says he is rejuvenated, but he may have little left in the tank. IDP players don’t need to bet on a comeback season.
