Henderson is recovering from a life-threatening motorcycle accident, and the Jets are helping him in every way possible. As a restricted free agent who has not signed a qualifying offer, however, Henderson becomes a free agent. Henderson will continue to rehab (paid for by the NFL) and hopes to return to football in 2005.

Henderson, who could barely walk or speak five weeks ago, now is able to jog lightly. It appears Henderson could make a full recovery, but the head injuries suffered may have been too severe for him to ever resume his football career.

Henderson suffered a life-threatening motorcyle accident over the offseason, suffering serious head injuries. “We are eternally grateful the Jets stood by Jamie through a very difficult time,” said Pat Dye, Henderson’s agent.
