    Jets signed CB Javelin Guidry.
Guidry (5'9/191) posted the fastest time of any defensive player at the NFL Scouting Combine in the 40-yard dash at 4.27 seconds, and it was second only to Alabama’s Henry Ruggs as the fastest time at the event. While the athleticism is obvious, his 5-foot-9, 191-pound size obviously hurt him; as did his “unpolished” coverage according to NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein. Still, he’s a perfect practice squad candidate because of his speed, and if he can be a stalwart on special teams, he might get a chance at making the everyday roster.

NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein writes that Utah CB Javelin Guidry is "[t]witchy and very athletic but lacking necessary feel for both man and zone coverages.”
Guidry (5'9/191) tore up the 40-yard dash track at the combine last week in bolting for a 4.29-second sprint, the second-fastest run of any player in Indianapolis (Henry Ruggs led the pack at 4.27 seconds). The speed is stellar, but does not in and of itself make a defensive back, with Zierlein writing that Guidry has a tendency to find himself “in catch-up mode as his anticipation is not yet fully developed.” The athleticism, alone, is very intriguing. But it’s going to take patience and coaching to get Guidry where he needs to be -- if he can get there -- before he’s ready for real secondary work in the pros.

Per NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones, Utah CB Javelin Guidry will not take part in further tests or drills at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Guidry (5'9/191) calling it a day after posting the fastest combine 40-yard dash we have seen in 2020 this side of Henry Ruggs, splitting the atom to the tune of a 4.29-second sprint. And that would be it for his testing day. The speedy Utah corner has the wheels, if not a total command of the position.

Utah CB Javelin Guidry ran the 40-yard dash in 4.29 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Oh goodness. Guidry (5'9/191) posted the fastest 40 time we have seen since Henry Ruggs went 4.27 seconds in the dash on Thursday. No doubting his speed and athleticism, but Guidry’s draft stock is complicated by what NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein refers to as “lacking (of) necessary feel for both man and zone coverages.” Athleticism can make up for a lot of things, though, with Zierlein noting that with proper coaching, it’s not beyond the pale that Guidry could stick in the NFL. Count him as a potential late Day 3 dart throw for April.

Utah junior CB Javelin Guidry has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft.
Guidry (5'9/193) started 11 of the 13 games in which he played this season at nickel corner, earning honorable mention all-Pac-12 honors. The Murietta, California native accounted for 48 total tackles, one interception, one quarterback hurry and six pass breakups in 2019. With Guidry considered to be an undersized draft prospect, his pre-draft testing numbers are going to be key when it comes to his NFL chances.

ESPN’s Tom Luginbill called Houston four-star 2017 CB Javelin Guidry “one of the fastest commitments in this class.”
“Guidry checks a lot of boxes you want in critical factors at the corner position and his ball skills and open-field traits are excellent,” Luginbill wrote. “He could be every bit the weapon on offense as he is on defense.” While he has the skill to perform on both sides of the ball, the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder is listed at “corner,” rather than “athlete” (a designation used for prospects whose positions are less defined) and that is his likely position once he hits the college scene. He just makes the ESPN 300 cut, slotting into the Worldwide Leader’s master list at No. 298.

Utah received a verbal commitment from three-star 2017 CB Javelin Guidry.
Guidry had been committed to Houston into the autumn, but reopened his recruitment after Tom Herman left for the Longhorns. His (presumably) final decision ultimately came down to Texas or Utah, with Utes HC Kyle Whittingham winning out over Herman in the end. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Guidry ranks as Rivals’ No. 95 prospect from the state of California. He is an out-and-out speed merchant. Over the summer, ESPN’s Tom Luginbill called him one of the fastest players in the 2017 class. That speed could potentially allow him to be used as an offensive piece, though that figures to be sorted out once Guidry officially begins his collegiate career.

Utah freshman CB Javelin Guidry was named Athlon Sport’s Defensive Freshman of the Week for his work against Arizona on Friday.
Guidry (5'10/180) made a pick-six off Arizona QB Brandon Dawkins and also registered five tackles in the victory. The interception was the first of the former three-star recruit’s collegiate career. He has recorded 11 tackles over the course of Utah’s 4-0 start to the campaign.
