Eagles signed DT Jeff Owens off their practice squad.
The seventh-round pick will provide some depth with Brodrick Bunkley possibly out for the season. Owens could be a gameday inactive, with Daniel Te’o-Nesheim likely seeing his first action.

According to FOX Sports’ Adam Caplan, Eagles DT Jeff Owens (knee surgeries) is unlikely to play in 2011.
It’s not just because there might be a lockout. Owens underwent both a microfracture procedure and surgery to repair a ruptured left patella tendon Wednesday, and is scheduled for reconstructive ACL surgery once the swelling goes down. We’d be surprised if he played football again, at all.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Eagles DT Jeff Owens was carted off Tuesday night in the third quarter with a left knee injury.
Owens’ foot got caught in the turf, causing his knee to twist. Active for his first game since being elevated from the practice squad, Owens was playing only because Trevor Laws had suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the quarter. The injury looked bad enough that he’s almost certainly out for Week 17.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Eagles signed DT Jeff Owens off their practice squad.
Owens’ promotion isn’t a good sign for DT Mike Patterson, who was sent for an MRI on his sore knee.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Eagles placed DT Jeff Owens on injured reserve with a ruptured left patellar tendon and torn ACL, ending his season.
A low-upside seventh-round pick out of Georgia, Owens made just one appearance in his rookie season. For such a fringe talent, this is a borderline career-threatening injury. He’ll undergo reconstructive knee surgery on the patellar tendon first, and then have the ACL repaired at a later date.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Eagles DT Jeff Owens ruptured his patellar tendon in Tuesday’s loss to the Vikings.
A tough break for the seventh-round rookie, as he was playing in his first game. His season is obviously over, and he’ll likely be going under the knife soon.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Eagles agreed to terms with seventh-round DT Jeff Owens on a multi-year contact.
At 6'3/305 out of Georgia, Owens profiles as a run-stopper with a high motor. He came back with a solid season last year after missing all of 2008 with a knee injury. Owens figures to spend his rookie season on the practice squad.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Eagles waived DT Jeff Owens, DL Eric Moncur, LB Tracy White and C Dallas Reynolds.
Owens, a seventh-rounder out of Georgia, is a strong candidate for the practice squad. White is a veteran special teamer that could draw some interest around the league.
  • PHI Defensive Lineman
Eagles waived DT Jeff Owens, CB Gerard Lawson, WR Jeremy Williams, and DT Jeremy Clark.
The latter three were only going to be camp bodies in Philly, so the Eagles are doing them a favor by letting go now. Owens is coming off massive knee operations -- plural. We suspect the former Georgia Bulldog has no future in the NFL.
