    Raiders waived DT Joe Cohen.
Cohen, 25, will try to catch on as a run-stopping backup elsewhere.
  • DET Defensive Lineman
Raiders claimed DL Joe Cohen off waivers from the Dolphins.
Cohen is back in a 4-3 system, where he fits best, but he’s entering camp very late. It’s going to be hard for the 2007 fourth-round pick to last.
  • Defensive Lineman
49ers NT Aubrayo Franklin will miss the preseason with an MCL sprain.
He should be ready for Week 1. Joe Cohen, Isaac Sopoaga, and Ronald Fields could see action on the nose in the meantime. Franklin already knew Mike Nolan’s 3-4 scheme from Baltimore, so it’s not a dire situation.
  • DET Defensive Lineman
    49ers signed DT Joe Cohen, a fourth-round pick, to a four-year contract.
He was chosen with the pick San Francisco received as compensation for losing Andre Carter in free agency. The team wants to convert Cohen to nose tackle but he’s undersized for the position. Most likely, he’ll work in a rotation.
  • DET Defensive Lineman
49ers placed DT Joe Cohen (torn MCL) and LB Jay Moore (ankle) on injured reserve, ending their season.
Cohen was a fourth-round pick this year. He never looked like a promising NFL player from the get go, but will return to compete in 2008.
  • DET Defensive Lineman
    Dolphins waived DL Joe Cohen.
This likely means that Paul Soliai is going to make the team. At 6'2/296, Cohen would fit better as a reserve situational run stopper in a 4-3 scheme.
  • DET Defensive Lineman
49ers waived DL Joe Cohen, TE Cooper Wallace, QB Kyle Wright, S Lewis Baker, and G John Booker.
At 6'2/296, Cohen wasn’t made to play in San Francisco’s 3-4. He was a waste of a fourth-round pick last year. Wright doesn’t have a future in the NFL.
  • DET Defensive Lineman
Lions signed DT Joe Cohen off their practice squad.
Cohen will provide some depth as a run-stopper along the defensive line. It’s unlikely he’ll see many snaps barring an injury.
