NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Chargers are targeting Ravens director of player personnel Joe Hortiz as their new GM.
Hortiz will pair with Jim Harbaugh, the brother of long-time Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, in Los Angeles, as the two will look to correct course for a team that already has a franchise quarterback in place. Hortiz has served as the Ravens’ director of player personnel since 2019 and comes from one of the best front offices the sport has to offer. With their head coach and GM now in place, the Chargers will now look to round out their staff in the coming weeks as they prepare for free agency and the draft.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Chargers will conduct a second interview with Ravens Director of Player Personnel Joe Hortiz for general manager.
Fresh off of hiring Jim Harbaugh for head coach, the Chargers are now looking to lock in a general manager. After interviewing Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown, the Chargers will interview Joe Hortiz for a second time. Hortiz has been the Ravens’ director of player personnel since 2019, receiving GM interest over the last couple of offseasons. He has already interviewed with the Chargers virtually and will have an in-person interview with the team coming up. Hortiz has experience working with a Harbaugh in Baltimore as the Chargers are looking to build with their new head coach.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Cardinals requested permission to interview Ravens director of player personnel Joe Hortiz for their general manager vacancy.
Hortiz interviewed with the Steelers and Giants last offseason as part of their searches for a new general manager. The Ravens have weathered Lamar Jackson injuries each of the last two seasons to win 10 and eight games, respectively. Arizona has cast a wide net during their general manager interview process.

The Steelers interviewed Ravens director of player personnel Joe Hortiz for their general manager vacancy.
The team also announced it talked to 49ers director of pro personnel Ran Carthon and Eagles vice president of player personnel Andy Weidl. The Steelers continue to cast a wide net as they hunt for Kevin Colbert’s replacement. Somewhat surprisingly, it is appearing that Colbert’s heir will likely come from outside the organization.

Giants interviewed Ravens director of player personnel Joe Hortiz for their general manager job.
Hortiz has spent the last 19 seasons with the Ravens, working as the top executive to GM Eric DeCosta. Baltimore promoted him to director of player personnel in 2019 after years of running the college scouting department. The Giants plan to hire a general manager before they look for their next head coach.

The New York Daily News’ Pat Leonard reports Ravens director of player personnel Joe Hortiz is in consideration for the Giants’ general manager opening.
With Dave Gettleman gone – he technically “retired” – the Giants are on the hunt for a new decision-maker, and Giants owner John Mara has already stated that they will first hire a new general manager before they look for their new head coach. The Ravens are well-known as one of the sharpest organizations in the NFL, so it makes sense that teams in search of new brass would look to poach someone from their organization. Hortiz has spent 19 seasons with the Ravens, and he has been in charge of college scouting for the past seven years. He manages their draft day evaluation and decision-making process as well.
