  • DET Cornerback #29
Bears selected Georgia Southern CB Kindle Vildor with the No. 163 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Vildor (5'10/191) projects exclusively as an outside corner after tallying 24 slot snaps as a three-year starter at Georgia Southern. An explosive athlete who excelled in both the vertical (39 1/2") and broad jumps (133") at Indy’s combine, Vildor used his respectable arm length (32 1/4") to play larger than his measurements suggest with the Eagles. Having said that, Pro Football Focus’ Mike Renner tracked the 22-year-old with a combined seven missed tackles in 2017-18 compared to 11, a marginal step back, in his final year. That regression coupled with his underwhelming size are causes for concern at the next level, projecting Vildor as a cross-your-fingers reserve.

NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein believes that Georgia Southern CB Kindle Vildor fits best in man-cover defenses.
Vildor had a decent week at the combine, running a 4.44 second 40-yard dash on his second attempt and showing a 39.5-inch vertical in Indianapolis. Zierlein writes that “Vildor possesses good athletic ability with the man cover talent to stay near his target.” The 5-foot-10, 191-pound cornerback does not have as good of tape in zone-coverage in the analysts’ eyes, however, and he has some concerns about Vildor helping in run support. Ultimately, Zierlein believes that Vildor has a chance to be a fourth or fifth cornerback on a team that plays a man-cover scheme.

Georgia Southern CB Kindle Vildor ran the 40-yard dash in 4.44 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Vildor (5'10/191) probably needed this one if he was to hang in the later Day 3 conversation. And on his initial run, things didn’t look great, as the Georgia Southern cornerback ran a forgettable 4.56-second dash. Whatever he did between his two runs worked wonders, though, as we almost never see improvements of over a tenth of a second outside of clock malfunctions. Vildor met with the Falcons, Titans and Jets, among others, over the course of the combine week. One slick run does not change the entire evaluation, here, as Vildor’s play with Georgia Southern dropped off considerably from 2018 to 2019, but at the very least, he showed a little more athletic twitch than might have been expected on his straight-line sprint.

Sports Illustrated’s Kristian Dyer reports that Georgia Southern CB Kindle Vildor had an informal meeting with the New York Jets at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Vildor (5'10/191) will be showing out athletically at the combine later on Sunday. He could use a strong set of tests, here, as his play with the Eagles was rather inconsistent. Especially if you’re looking through PFF’s lens. The outlet’s overall grade for Vildor was just 65.1 in 2019 -- a huge drop from his overall grade of 90.4 from 2018. PFF notes that Vildor missed 11 tackles last season. They tag him as a sixth-round talent for the spring draft.

Georgia Southern CB Kindle Vildor earned an interception in the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Saturday.
Vildor (5'11/190) picked of Michigan QB Shea Patterson on Saturday. After snagging the ball from the air, Vildor returned the pick for 22 yards before being taken down. For a G5 Day 3 prospect, earning an interception on arguably the biggest stage of his career is a nice boost for Vildor.

Georgia Southern senior CB Kindle Vildor accepted an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Vildor (5'11/190) received a fair amount of sleeper pub in draft circles over the offseason, with Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller, The Athletic’s Dane Brugler and Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy among those who were keen to see how his senior year would unfold. The numbers really haven’t been there for the ballhawking corner this fall -- just 16 tackles, an interception and three passes defensed -- but he was a first-team All-Sun Belt-er last season and has eight career interceptions to his name. Vildor will look to jump-start his draft process in Mobile come January.

Georgia Southern senior CB Kinkle Vildor is PFF’s No. 40 college player of 2019.
Vildor is one of the top non-Power 5 prospects this season. He’s received shoutouts from PFF, the Senior Bowl, The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller, and other analysts. In coverage, Vildor has allowed two touchdowns to seven interceptions and even held his own against Clemson receivers last year (2-of-7 completions for 10 yards with one interception). At this point, it’s time to take Vildor seriously as an early Day 3, or perhaps Day 2 prospect who should end up with a Senior Bowl invite.

Georgia Southern senior CB Kindle Vildor received a draftable grade from The Athletic’s Dane Brugler.
Draft analysts (from PFF to Matt Miller to Jim Nagy to Brugler) have been popping up with positive remarks all offseason, so Vildor (5'11/190) is a name to watch in 2019. Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy was impressed with Vildor’s tape against Clemson and App State, calling the corner a “ball-hawk”. Vildor received the best PFF grade among returning Sun Belt corners and very well could be the best corner in the conference. He’s a Day 3 candidate and is competing for a valuable Senior Bowl invite.

Georgia Southern senior CB Kindle Vildor had the best PFF grade in 2018 among returning Sun Belt corners.
Vildor (5'11/190) was deemed a “sleeper” for the 2020 NFL Draft by Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller, and PFF certainly agrees. As a junior, Vildor was one of the most productive CBs across the country, racking up four interceptions, 12 pass deflections (!), and 31 solo tackles. A top-10 corner prospect on Miller’s early 2020 Big Board, Vildor should earn Senior Bowl and Combine invites if he continues playing at a high level. Consider Vildor a Day 3 prospect for now.

Athlon Sports writers Steven Lassan and Mark Ross projected Georgia Southern senior CB Kindle Vildor to be Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year in their season preview.
Vildor (5'11/190) was outstanding as a junior, racking up 42 total tackles (4.5 for loss) and four interceptions. As a result he was a first team All-Sun Belt selection, and Pro Football Focus tabbed the rising senior as both Sun Belt Player of the Year and a second team All-American. Vildor is considered to be a Day 3 prospect with regards to the 2020 NFL Draft, and he’s talented enough to improve that status in the fall.
