Browns claimed C Marvin Philip off waivers from the Steelers.
Philip, who blocked for Marshawn Lynch at Cal and was a sixth-round pick in 2006, adds depth behind Hank Fraley. Green Bay also put in a waiver claim for Philip, but the Browns were awarded him because their record is worse.
  • LV Linebacker
Steelers claimed LB Marquis Cooper off waivers and released C Marvin Philip.
Cooper was with the Steelers in training camp and played special teams in his one week with the Jaguars, the Steelers Week 15 opponent. Philip was a 2006 sixth-round pick.
  • ARI Tight End
Steelers placed TE Jerame Tuman (back) on injured reserve.
Tuman’ injury was to a disc in his back. He had fallen behind rookie Matt Spaeth on the depth chart before going down. The team signed C Marvin Philip from their practice squad to round out their roster.
  • Bills waived/injured C Marvin Philip.
He’s bounced around since Pittsburgh drafted him in the ’06 sixth round.
  • Bills released C Marvin Philip.
Philip spent the 2009 season on injured reserve after injuring his knee in training camp last summer.
  • Steelers signed sixth-round C Marvin Philip, a former Cal Bear, to a three-year contract.
Philip blocked for electrifying runners J.J. Arrington, Marshawn Lynch, and Justin Forsett in college. He enters camp behind aging Pro Bowler Jeff Hartings and Chukky Okobi in depth.
  • BUF Wide Receiver
Bills signed WR P.K. Sam and C Marvin Philip to futures contracts.
Sam has always had fine measurables, but he probably won’t be the Bills’ answer to play opposite Lee Evans. Philip is a former Brown and Steeler.
  • The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review mentions Marvin Philip, Chukky Okobi, and Kendall Simmons as candidates to replace retired C Jeff Hartings.
Philip, a 2006 sixth-round pick, was often inactive as a rookie. Okobi would seem the early favorite for the job. Simmons, a starting guard, has dabbled at center and Pittsburgh has Chris Kemoeatu behind him.
  • Steelers selected California C Marvin Philip with the No. 201 pick in the NFL Draft.
Philip could be Pittsburgh’s third center behind Jeff Hartings and Chukky Okobi, if he makes the team.
