The former Northern Illinois star was working on his second straight training camp with the Saints. He spent the 2009 season away from the NFL only to re-sign after the Super Bowl.

Seahawks signed WR Matt Simon to an undisclosed contract.

Simon was waived by the Saints last week when they opted to go with veteran Mark Bradley instead. He won’t make the Seahawks’ final roster, though he may end up on the practice squad.

Seahawks signed RB Adrian Peterson and waived WR Matt Simon.

Peterson, 31, lacks ideal explosiveness for a third-down back, but that’s pretty much the only offensive role he’s capable of. He can also cover kicks. He’ll have to beat out Quinton Ganther and Louis Rankin to make the roster.
