A.J. Hawk donates his hair

Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk no longer has long hair.

Hawk cut off his hair and donated it to Wigs for Kids, a charity that makes wigs for children who lose their hair to chemotherapy or other health issues.

“Today is a special day for me as I’ve decided to cut off my hair and give it to someone who needs it more than I do,” Hawk wrote on Twitter. “Thanks to wigs for kids for partnering with us,my wife and I are proud to start Hawk’s locks for Kids which will be helping kids with cancer. No child should have to feel ashamed of themselves due to a disease. We are hoping to raise enough money and hair donations to change many lives!”

Hawk is urging others with hair 12 inches long or longer to donate it, and is organizing a hair-donating event in June.
