Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was chosen as the NFC offensive player of the week after engineering Green Bay’s Week Four win over the New Orleans Saints, 28-27.
The defending NFL Most Valuable Player completed 31-of-41 passes for 319 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception. Rodgers picked apart first-year Saints coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s defense with short to intermediate throws, hooking up with James Jones (twice), Jordy Nelson, and Greg Jennings for scoring connections.
Through four games, Rodgers is on pace for 24 touchdown passes and 4,256 yards, both way down from his 2011 totals. With a brutal early-season schedule out of the way -- the Packers faced the 49ers, Seahawks, and Bears’ pass defenses before the Saints -- it’s a safe bet that Rodgers will pick up that pace moving forward.
