Adrian Peterson officially designated for return from IR

With the Vikings still in the thick of the playoff race, Adrian Peterson says he will return to practice. Mike Florio wonders if he could possibly play in Week 16 against the Packers at Lambeau Field.

The Vikings made it official this morning, starting the clock on running back Adrian Peterson’s return.

The team announced that Peterson was designated for return from injured reserve, and that he participated in this morning’s walk-through. That starts the 21-day window for them to activate him from IR.

He’s been out since suffering a knee injury in Week Two, and the resulting meniscus surgery.

The hope seems to be to get Peterson back on the field in Week 16 against the Packers. He’s said he hopes to come back as long as the Vikings have something to play for, and at 7-6, they do.
