At least Tom Brady saved himself some money before suspension

Tom Brady

If Tom Brady’s looking for a silver lining to giving up his legal fight today, he can at least comfort himself with knowing he can afford more white flags to wave with the money he saved this offseason.

Brady restructured his current contract in April, converting $9 million in base salary to a signing bonus and a base salary of $1 million.

In addition to having his money in hand immediately, he also dropped his losses for a four-game suspension from $2.11 million to $235,941.

It’s not a deal-breaker for someone who was previously rich (and is married to someone who makes even more money), but it’s also a solid bit of planning on Brady’s part for the possibility this day would come.
