The Vikings aren’t the only team in the NFC North in need of a middle linebacker.
The Bears have just as much of a (long-term) hole there, but are taking a look at one of the top prospects who might fill it.
According to Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com, the Bears are hosting Kansas State linebacker Arthur Brown this week for a pre-draft visit.
While Brown doesn’t have the name recognition of other middle linebacker prospects such as Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o or Georgia’s Alec Ogletree or LSU’s Kevin Minter, he is well-regarded among those who watch film, an active if undersized linebacker.
With the Bears picking 20th and the Vikings 23rd and 25th, it could make for some interesting moves in the middle of the first round, as divisional rivals with similar needs jockey with each other.
The Bears signed veteran D.J. Williams, who could stand in the spot of Brian Urlacher for a year. But Brown’s an intriguing possibility, and a potential long-term fit.
