Wide receiver Bobby Engram’s underrated 14-year career as a slot receiver came to an end in September when the Browns cut him.

After one season watching from home, Engram will get back into the NFL via a coaching job. The 49ers hired Engram as an offensive assistant on Friday. He will work primarily with wide receivers, according to Comcast Bay Area.

Engram spent eight of his NFL seasons in Seattle, where he learned the West Coast offense from Mike Holmgren. Now he’ll try to teach the offense to Michael Crabtree and company.
