So much for the youth movement at the Indy skill positions.
Second-year player Vick Ballard’s status as the lead dog for the Colts’ running game is in grave danger, given the arrival of veteran Ahmad Bradshaw.
Per a source with knowledge of the transaction, Bradshaw agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Colts.
The move comes after several days of discussions, culminating in a leverage-blowing tweet from owner Jim Irsay, who said that he has “SERIOUS Coin” for Bradshaw.
In time, we’ll see how “SERIOUS” the “Coin” really was. Regardless, the 1,000-yard rush who has been available for months has a new job.
His effectiveness likely will hinge on whether his surgically-repaired foot is good as new, or close to it.
UPDATE 1:55 p.m.: The “SERIOUS Coin” consists of $250,000 to sign, a base salary of $1.1 million and $650,000 in per-game roster bonuses. If he’s on the active roster for every game, it’s a $2 million deal.
