Brandon Jackson on the lockout: “I’m bored”

Some NFL players are feeling angry about the lockout. Some are feeling relief that they have time off work. Some are feeling anxiety about when their next paycheck will come.

For Packers running back Brandon Jackson, the overriding feeling is boredom.

Oh, c’mon now, I’m bored,” Jackson told the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Jackson was quick to add that he’s not complaining because the lockout is giving him more time to spend with his kids. His wife likes that, but she also wishes he’d get out of the house sometimes. (That sounds like my wife.)

“I find things to do,” Jackson said. “I’m a full-time dad now. I’m taking care of three kids and a wife. It’s a full time job. It’s a responsibility. I love it. Yeah, [my wife Brandy] loves it, but I get on her nerves sometimes when I’m bored. I like to pick on her when I’m bored. She knows it. She’s like, ‘You’re bored, they need to start back football.’ I get a little antsy at times.”

Jackson views the lockout as a hint about what his life might be like when his NFL career comes to an end.

“There are some pros and cons to the lockout,” he said. “I’m looking at it as, hey, it gives me time to be with my family, to sit down and for us to grow. Basically, this is how life would be without football.”
