At the end of last season, Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall said he had doubts about whether Chad Henne understood how to get him the ball.
Now Marshall says he’s on the same page with Henne, and he doesn’t get why anyone would think otherwise.
Asked by the Miami Herald on Friday if there was any tension or anger between himself and Henne, Marshall replied, “Why, I don’t understand –- next question.”
Marshall also said he’s been talking to Henne “a lot” and that they’re excited about what they can do together in Brian Daboll’s offense.
“Just trying to see what direction we’re going in the offseason as far as getting everybody back together, going over some of the things we’ve learned as far as the new offense,” Marshall said of his conversations with Henne. “Just getting some timing down on the field.”
Of course, under league rules, Marshall and Henne shouldn’t have learned anything about the new offense -- there’s no coaching allowed between the end of the season and the start of the new league year. But other than perhaps letting slip that the Dolphins got an edge through impermissible contact between coaches and players, Marshall is saying all the right things about being a team player.
“We’ve just got to play as one,” Marshall said. “It’s our goal, but it’s hard to accomplish. All parts have to be moving in the same direction, from management to coaches to the players. If you’re marching to the beat of your own drum, we’re not going to get it done.”
