Linebacker Brandon Spikes played his last NFL game with the Bills in 2014.
His next action may come in the same uniform. Spikes’ agent David Canter announced on Twitter Sunday that his client has signed with the Bills.
Spikes recently visited with the Dolphins as he worked to resume a career that came to a halt when he was released by the Patriots last year. That came shortly after Spikes left the scene of a car accident and he was suspended four games by the league while he was a free agent.
His return to Buffalo may signal bad news to come about rookie Reggie Ragland. Coach Rex Ryan said on Friday that he was “very concerned” about the second-round pick’s non-contact knee injury and he said Saturday that he may have been premature in saying that Ragland avoided ligament damage.
Spikes is primarily a run defender and an extended absence from Ragland would likely cause further shuffling of linebacker options as the Bills adjust to life without the rookie.
