It’s cutdown time around the NFL, but the Browns are moving in the other direction on Friday as well.

Defensive lineman Stephen Paea announced that he’s joining the Browns with a Twitter post of his contract signing. Paea was released by the Redskins earlier this week, which explains the caption “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

Paea will help the Browns fill the void created when defensive end Desmond Bryant tore his pectoral this offseason. Defensive end Armonty Bryant will also serve a four-game suspension to open the season, leaving the Browns even shorter on experience up front when the season gets underway.

Paea joined the Redskins last year after spending four years with the Bears. He played 11 games and had 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks before finishing the season on injured reserve.
